Successful Green Links Grant Funding

Three community volunteer groups have received approximately $150,000 funding towards their projects through the State Government’s Green Links grant program.

Bungalook Nursery, Blackburn Lake Sanctuary Advisory Committee and KooyongKoot Alliance will use the funding to improve vegetation in the Central Road wetlands at Blackburn Lake Sanctuary and expand the green corridor at Gardiners Creek Reserve, Burwood.

The Green Links Grant funding program centres on revegetation and on-ground actions that improve habitat, water quality, and revitalise the places people connect with nature.

The funding will allow the groups to undertake weeding, maintenance and hold planting days for their projects. It will lead to planting of about 15,000 new local indigenous trees, shrubs, and ground storey plants at the two locations.

Council will support the projects and looks forward to working alongside these groups to achieve important environmental benefits for the community.
