This summer we’re putting Chelsea in the spotlight. We’ve installed four new picnic tables at The Strand and are running a program of free activities.

We’re supporting our local businesses with a program of live music, storytime sessions and talks, to encourage our community to make a trip to Chelsea to spend time there.

The program includes a mix of environmental talks, storytime sessions and live music to make sure there’s something for everyone of all ages.

Live music at The Strand:

  • Saturday 9/12 | 4pm to 6.30pm | Sebastian Ashton
  • Friday 15/12 | 5pm to 6.30pm | Sebastian Ashton
  • Monday 18/12 | 10.30am to 12.00pm | Monica Casaceli
  • Thursday 21/12 | 11am to 12.30pm | Monica Casaceli
  • Friday 22/12 | 5.30pm to 7pm | Reachell Hernandez
  • Saturday 23/12 | 5.30pm to 7pm | Fun Roaming Minstrels

Don’t miss the Christmas-y fun when the Roving Xmas Quartet ‘the fun Roaming Minstrels’ heads to the Strand on Saturday 23 December from 10am to 1pm.

Bring the family for some quality time in the fresh air, with our Kingston Libraries’ free storytime sessions, on Wednesday 10 January and Wednesday 17 January at 10.00am.

On Saturday 20 January, join the Marine Mammal Foundation to learn about Port Phillip Bay’s dolphin population and the issues they face, like chemical threats.

And it’s not just the Strand getting all the fun. Chelsea’s Bicentennial Park is home to this year’s Carols by Kingston on Sunday 10 December, our Youth Services team will bring summer fun to the foreshore with cabanas, deck chairs and free activities in January, and head back to Bicentennial Park on Saturday 24 February from 2-8pm for a twilight session of our Youth Services’ annual skate comp, Skate of Mind.
