The Tasmanian Branch of the Pharmacy Guild has welcomed the Tasmanian Government’s announcement of successful recipients for extended hours care grants.
Branch President Joe O’Malley congratulated the successful recipients and noted the funds were highly
focused on rural and regional locations.
“Rural and regional communities in Tasmania deserve access to high quality healthcare, and this support
will help the recipient communities pharmacies to stay open for longer.
“What this ultimately means is more access to care for patients, closer to where they live, so we
congratulate the Government on delivering this program.”
Successful recipients were chosen following a highly competitive Expression of Interest process
undertaken by the Tasmanian Government.
Mr O’Malley also acknowledged the strong support of the Tasmanian Government for expanding
pharmacists scope of practice.
“The Tasmanian Government has invested in care for patients through their support for training to expand
community pharmacists’ scope of practice.
“There will soon be pharmacies all over the state able to provide care for more than 20 health conditions.”
