Support Local – Christmas Lights Display

Residents of the Cessnock local government area can win a $500, $300 or $200 gift card simply by decorating their homes with their best Christmas Lights display.

To give back to the community, Cessnock City Council is running an additional Support Local Christmas competition where residents can enter their home Christmas decorations and displays.

Cessnock City Mayor Jay Suvaal is encouraging the community to get into the spirit of the season and get behind this month’s ‘Support Local’ campaign.

“There is nothing better over Christmas than seeing our community come alive with lights and displays as everyone gets into the spirit of the season,” said Clr Suvaal.

“We have a great community spirit here in our part of the Hunter, and this Support Local campaign provides an opportunity to engage in some friendly competition between neighbours.

“I can’t wait for what some of our creative residents have in store, and look forward to seeing the results of the public voting.”

Residents can self-nominate by commenting on the Advance Cessnock Support Local competition posts with an image of their display and always remember to use the hashtag #SupportLocalCessnock.

The top three displays will be selected by a judging panel before handing over to public vote to rank the winners. Public voting will open on the Cessnock City Council Facebook page from 18 December with 3rd Place will win a $200 gift card to spend at local businesses, 2nd Place a $300 gift card and 1st Place a $500 gift card.
