Eight local businesses have completed a suite of hydraulic works at the Hidden Valley Motor Sport Complex, as part of a $12 million investment from the Northern Territory Government to ensure a reliable system of water supply infrastructure.
The nine packages of work awarded and delivered between 2016 and 2020 have included:
Upgrading the speedway water supply
Installing water meter and main to the site
Installing new water main to main track
Upgrading go-kart hydraulics
Upgrading Mud Racing and Quad bike track hydraulics
Installing section of new ring main
Hairpin bend, western boundary and pit paddock
Track Centre area
Irrigation works
The completed works complement recent Territory Labor Government investments at the Hidden Valley Motor Sport Complex, including the construction of the new Motor Sports House, broadcast-quality lighting to the drags track, new safety barriers and tyre walls, and upgrades to the drags spectator area.
As noted by Acting Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Eva Lawler:
“This significant investment into hydraulic upgrades at the Hidden Valley Motor Sport Complex has supported eight local companies throughout the project.
“The complex now has a reliable system of water supply infrastructure which includes irrigation to all trackside verge areas.
“Motor sports are hugely popular in the Territory – as well as the hydraulic upgrades, we have delivered new broadcast-quality lighting on the drags track, new safety barriers and tyre walls, improvements to trackside spectator viewing areas and the new $6 million Motor Sports House.
“Investment in motor sports infrastructure creates jobs for locals, supports our local motor sports clubs and attracts more visitors to the Territory through our major events.”
