Suspended driver in court after pursuit, crash, NSW

A suspended driver will appear in court today charged following a pursuit and crash in Sydney’s west yesterday.

Just before 11am (Tuesday 27 October 2020), officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command attempted to stop a blue Mitsubishi Lancer on Meadows Road, Mount Pritchard, when the driver allegedly accelerated from the scene.

A pursuit was initiated and continued through Mount Pritchard, Bonnyrigg and St Johns Park.

It was terminated on Brisbane Road at St Johns Park due to safety concerns.

Shortly after, the Mitsubishi crashed into a parked Volkswagen Passat on Brisbane Road, near Corinda Street.

The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police commenced a foot pursuit, and with the assistance of the Dog Unit and PolAir, he was located hiding in bushland.

The man allegedly ran from police a second time, before he was arrested in the front yard of a home on Brisbane Road.

The 28-year-old man was taken to Fairfield Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

He was released from hospital and taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with destroy or damage property, resist officer in execution of duty, not give particulars to other driver, police pursuit-not stop-drive dangerously, and drive motor vehicle while licence suspended.

The St Johns Park man was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Wednesday 28 October 2020).
