Swan Hill Leisure Centre to re-open

Council and the Swan Hill Leisure Centre are pleased to announce the re-opening of health club facilities at the centre from today (28 October).

Swan Hill Rural City Council Director Development and Planning Heather Green said Council was delighted that the community would once again have access to the facility.

“It has been challenging for our community in Swan Hill to have the leisure centre facility shut after we enjoyed a brief re-opening in June,” Ms Green said.

“However, it is fantastic that we are once again able to open these facilities in line with COVID-19 government and industry guidelines.”

As per current COVID-19 restrictions, limited numbers will be allowed in the Swan Hill Leisure Centre and new operating hours will be in place.

Additionally, the following changes will be in place at the centre to ensure the safety and wellbeing of guests and staff members:

  • Showers and changerooms are available but guests are encouraged to shower and change at home
  • Some gym equipment may be unavailable to allow for social distancing rules
  • Water bubblers are not available – guests are encouraged to bring a full water bottle
  • Bookings are essential and should be made in advance
  • A maximum of 10 people will be permitted per gym space, as per government guidelines
  • In the interest of public safety, walk-ins will not be available
  • Face masks are recommended as per government guidelines

Lap swimming, recreational swimming and aqua aerobics are available from 28 October with a maximum of 20 per pool or one person per four square metres.

During the extended lockdown period, the team at the Swan Hill Leisure Centre took strict actions to ensure a high standard of environmental cleanliness upon re-opening. All staff have undergone COVID-19 Safety Training.

“The Swan Hill Leisure Centre has been working closely with Council to re-open the centre,” Ms Green added.

“We are pleased to be able to once again support our local community in meeting their health and fitness goals.

“The Swan Hill Leisure Centre has been an important part of the Swan Hill region and provides many in our community with much-needed support and access.”

The Swan Hill Leisure Centre will continue to monitor government and industry guidelines to ensure that the centre remains safe for staff and guests over the coming months.
