Tailored sporting programs at Brookdale Road Reserve

Wyndham City is inviting feedback on how the future activation of Brookdale Road Reserve can best meet the needs of the community.

The reserve features a baseball and softball field with behind diamond fencing, a batting cage structure and baseball clay surface.

Baseball and softball programs will be delivered at the reserve, in line with Wyndham’s Sports Strategy.

The community is invited to have their say on how the programs are delivered to ensure activities meet the age, sporting requirements (beginners, intermediate or senior) and values of the local communities that will use the venue.

Feedback is also invited to understand how the community might also want to use the reserve for other sports, activities and events.

Wyndham City’s Active City portfolio holder Cr Peter Maynard said he was looking forward to seeing increased sporting opportunities available to the residents in the growth areas of Wyndham.

“This first stage of establishing programs is always important, as it sets the goals and objectives of how clubs grow in the area,” he said.

“We know that some residents will be looking to play in formal competition, whilst others will prefer to play in a more social, less competitive setting – this survey is all about understanding how our community want to play sports at the reserve.”

Cr Maynard said the $5.6 million reserve was an asset to the community.

“We look forward to the community making the most of this premier destination for sports in the West,” he said.

“A modular sporting pavilion that will service the baseball and softball field is currently in the construction phase and is expected to be completed, alongside associated landscaping, in late 2023.”
