Tallangatta Young Farmer Business Bootcamp

Agriculture Victoria is kicking off another motivating two-day Young Farmer Business Bootcamp, this time in the north east Victorian town of Tallangatta on Thursday 13 and 20 June.

Agriculture Victoria Program Manager Kellyanne Harris said this bootcamp is targeting young farmers or those new to managing a farm business in the livestock and cropping industries.

“The course will bring a group of young farmers or those new to managing a farm business together to share information and experiences and develop skills to manage a farm business for the short and longer-terms,” Ms Harris said.

“Participants can expect to improve their understanding of profit and loss, cash flow budgeting, balance sheets, gross margins, planning for and managing risks, as well as financial planning and analysis.

“The bootcamps are an important part of the support provided by Agriculture Victoria to young farm managers.

“We are delivering these events to support young farm owners and managers tackle the current conditions and think ahead to the longer-term goals of their businesses,” Ms Harris said.

Ms Harris said local north east livestock farmer Lib Paton played a major role in getting the bootcamp delivered in Tallangatta. Lib Paton said the bootcamps give the opportunity for anyone in a farm business position to enhance their financial skills, and directly apply this into their everyday management.

“It is a bonus getting the bootcamp delivered locally, as it’s been a tough few seasons and having this event here will hopefully inspire producers to attend,” Ms Paton said.
