The Hodgman majority Liberal Government is continuing to deliver on our long term plan for Tasmania, with our strong policies taking our state from strength to strength.
This morning I joined the Minister for State Growth to open the ANZ Business Growth Program. It gave me great pleasure to share with the group Tasmania’s extraordinary economic results, which are only possible because of Tasmanian businesses and their workers and their nation leading confidence to invest and grow.
Recent economic reports and indicators reveal Tasmania is a prouder, more confident place to be than ever before, with our economy the fastest-growing and strongest performing in the nation.
With nation-leading business confidence, booming exports and strong tourism growth along with the construction and housing sector generating record investment and jobs right across the state, these results speak for themselves.
In October alone 800 jobs were created, representing the fastest growth rate in the country, and our unemployment rate continued to fall to 6.1 per cent with 15,800 jobs created since we came to Government.
Our plan is working, but we know there is more to do to ensure all Tasmanians can share in the benefits of a strong economy.
That is why we are working to maintain our extraordinary economic momentum by investing a record spend in infrastructure, right across the State, which will support the creation of 10,000 more jobs.
