Tasmanian businesses still most confident in country

Peter Gutwein,Premier

Tasmanian business confidence and conditions continue to lead the nation according to the latest NAB Monthly Business Survey for September 2021.

The Survey results confirmed that in September 2021, Tasmania recorded the highest business confidence in the country at +7 points, along with the best conditions for business at +21 points – more than double the result nationally.

This is fantastic news and once again confirms that our plan to secure Tasmania’s future is working as we continue to manage the economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s just the latest positive news for our economy, following the Deloitte Access Economics Business Outlook Report for the September 2021 quarter, that forecast our economy to grow the equal-fastest in the nation this year and also confirmed that Tasmanian businesses are the most confident in the country to spend, invest and hire.

There is no doubt Tasmania is in a good place, with Tasmania’s labour market the biggest it’s ever been and 27,600 jobs created since we came to Government in 2014.

However, we know that there is more to do as we continue to emerge from the pandemic, and we will continue to deliver our plan to grow our economy, and create more jobs as we secure Tasmania’s future.
