Tasmanian food and beverage exports boom

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is delivering on its long-term plan to grow the state’s export trade to $15 billion by 2050.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff joined LARK Distilling Co.’s chief financial officer Iain Short and industry legend Bill Lark in Hobart.

“LARK is truly an exporting success story with a world-class product that exemplifies the quiet pursuit of the extraordinary,” Premier Rockliff said.

“Having become an iconic Tasmanian brand over the past 30 years, LARK is a true local success story on the international stage and is now found on shelves around the globe.

“LARK was one of the founding distilleries in Tasmania; now the industry comprises of more than 80 distilleries, is worth almost $330 million, and employs more than 300 Tasmanians.

“This clearly demonstrates the enormous international demand for Tasmanian exports and the quality of our local producers and their products.

LARK also highlighted its plans to take products to Asia next year, unveiling the latest limited release – LARK Dragon Release Single Malt Whisky to celebrate Lunar New Year.

“Our Government is doing what matters for Tasmanians by supporting businesses to attend international trade shows and events, to engage with our Tasmanian Trade Advocates in market, and to partner with the strong TASMANIA brand to take their products directly to major buyers,” Premier Rockliff said.

“LARK is truly a testament to the strength of the TASMANIA brand, as pioneers of the modern-day whisky industry in Tasmania, with fantastic tourism experiences, and products that are winning international awards.

“We look forward to hearing about the success of Tasmanian food and beverage produces attending trade shows and events next year, unlocking key markets and showing the world we have what they want.”
