Madeleine Ogilvie, Minister for Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries

Congratulations to Tasmania’s Jeffrey Hawkins who has been named Innovator of the Year at the Australian Defence Industries Awards.

The Australian Defence Industries Awards is an awards program that identifies top businesses and professionals in the defence industry across Australia.

Minister for Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries, Madeleine Ogilvie, was in attendance to present the award for Female Defence Leader of the Year.

“It is my pleasure to have been there on the night representing Tasmania at these most prestigious awards,” Minister Ogilvie said.

“I was delighted to be in the room for the Award for Innovator of the Year to our very own Tasmanian Jeffrey Hawkins, Managing Director of Pivot Maritime International.

“Pivot Maritime International is proudly Tasmanian and the only Australian company that manufactures portable maritime simulators for defence, commercial shipping, and recreational boating.

“The receipt of the Innovation Award is based on Pivot Maritime International’s 40ft Container Simulation Systems developed for the Royal Australian Navy and soon to be delivered to a Darwin location to support crew training and proficiency.

“Congratulations also to Damien Guihen from AMC Search who was a finalist for Academic of the Year Award.

“Seeing Tasmanians recognised on the national stage always fills me with immense pride and I congratulate both Jeffrey and Damien on their achievement.”
