Tassie favourites take slice of Woolies freezers

Tasmanian Bakeries

The cooler months are here, and to kick off ‘pie season’ in mouth-watering style, some new recruits from Tasmanian Bakeries’ National Pies range are now available in select Woolworths freezers across Australia.

The range includes a selection of flavours including the new Chunky Beef, Bacon and Cheese as well as the Classic Beef and popular Curried Chicken pies.

Tasmanian Bakeries’ CEO Geraldine Tebbutt said pie lovers can forget needing to take a trip to the Apple Isle to enjoy a Tassie favourite, they can simply shop the Woolies aisle.

“If you are a first-time taster or a seasoned National Pies lover, we hope your tastebuds enjoy our four delicious top seller flavours currently available in select Woolworths freezers,” Geraldine said.

“All products from our National Pies range are made with the finest Tasmanian and Australian

ingredients including chicken from Marion Bay in Tasmania, and 100 percent grass-fed Australian beef. Our crispy puff pastry is also made in-house by our bakers from locally-milled Tasmanian flour.

“By choosing National Pies you are not only investing in a satisfying meal, you are also supporting an Australian made and owned product.

“Demand for the product has very much grown from a national desire to support Australian businesses, as well as our growing reputation for creating quality baked goods in Hobart for more than 80 years.”

Tasmanian Bakeries is a family-owned business that has been operating since 1942. Its freshly handcrafted National Pies pastries are all baked in Hobart and first became iconic amongst Tasmanians.

In the 2000s, Tasmanian Bakeries partnered with several foodservice and retail providers to bring its products to the mainland, finally making National Pies a national product.
