Tathra’s new inclusive play space design unveiled

The Department of Planning and Environment today revealed the concept design for a future inclusive play space in the South East and Tablelands Region.

The Department of Planning and Environment’s Commissioner for Open Space and Parklands, Fiona Morrison, said the new Tathra play space is a great example of how the Everyone Can Play in NSW initiative is delivering more useable and inclusive play spaces for the people of NSW.

“The new Tathra play space has been designed using the draft Everyone Can Play in NSW guideline which is assisting councils, architects and designers to make play spaces inclusive for everyone,” said Ms Morrison, pictured below with Tathra locals at today’s unveiling of the new concept design.

“An inclusive play space is one that is easy to access, easy to move around in, and with the right amenities, in a comfortable environment,” she said.

The Department of Planning and Environment has invested $600,000 to bring this wonderful community-designed play space to life.

Minister for Planning, Anthony Roberts, said the new playground was a good example of how the NSW Government is investing in new and upgraded play spaces.

“We have $4 million in funding currently available for councils across NSW to create or upgrade play spaces in their area that can be enjoyed by everyone and I encourage every council across the state to apply,” Mr Roberts said.

Tathra’s new inclusive play space is expected to be completed in June 2019.
