TEAL WAVE TO SWEEP WAHROONGA AT NEW SOUTH WALES STATE ELECTION

Kristyn Haywood

Kristyn Haywood, who boasts an enviable track record as a human resources professional and small business owner, is running as the Independent Candidate for the seat of Wahroonga at the New South Wales State Election.

Haywood is running on six policy platforms: Protection of the Local Ecosystem; Integrity in Government; Social Equality; Prevention of Further Climate Change; a Fair Education System; and a Strong Healthcare System.

According to Haywood, “I care deeply about our precious earth, about our climate, about our flora and fauna, about equality, health, education, youth, and thriving economies that sustain the earth rather than pillage from it. I feel strongly about looking after our vulnerable. The measure of a healthy community is how we look after our most vulnerable. We have some work to do in this space.”

“If elected, I will work to immediately repeal the 10/50 Code responsible for the destruction of so many beautiful native trees in the area. The code supposedly created to protect homes from fire was developed without any fire modelling and had no scientific validation.”

“I will work to implement a transparent, merit-based recruitment process for all public appointments, overseen by a dedicated public appointments commissioner, and review the NSW Department of Planning’s powers to rezone ecologically sensitives areas for large-scale development.”

“I will work to increase the number of women represented in Parliament and in senior positions in the NSW public service. I will focus on improving women’s safety and health services. I will focus on improving access to properly resourced public schooling and public health services, address critical teacher and nursing shortages, and support increased funding for TAFEs.”

“For too long, the seat of Wahroonga has been held by the Liberal party. It is time for a fresh perspective that puts our local community first, free from the posturing of the two-party preferred system. It is time for teal to sweep Wahroonga,” said Haywood.
