A teenage boy will face court next month on multiple charges relating to an alleged fail to stop incident involving a child in the state’s Central West.
About 7.30pm on Tuesday (2 March 2021), a six-year-old girl was in the driveway of a home on Kurim Avenue, Orange, when she was struck by a trailbike that came out of Edye Park.
The girl suffered a fractured leg and was taken to Orange Base Hospital for treatment.
It is alleged the rider of the trailbike fled the scene.
A crime scene was established and officers from Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 17-year-old boy at Orange Police Station, about 2.15pm on Wednesday (3 March 2021).
The teen was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, driver never licensed, use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road, use uninsured motor vehicle, and motorbike rider not wear approved helmet.
He was given strict conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Monday 19 April 2021.
