Teenaged girl dies after bike crash at Berkeley, NSW

A teenaged girl, critically injured in a crash involving a car and motorbike at Berkeley last weekend, has died.

Emergency services were called to Hertford Street just after 11.30pm (Sunday 10 May 2020), and found the 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy seriously injured.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District were told the teens had been riding an unregistered motorbike east along Hertford Street when it and a Toyota Aurion collided in the westbound lane.

The driver, a 21-year-old man from Figtree, stopped and rendered assistance to the injured teens before they were taken to Wollongong Hospital. The man was not injured and has undergone mandatory testing.

Police have now been told the girl died yesterday morning (Thursday 14 May 2020).
