Teenager charged after assault and robbery in Kingsford

Police have charged a teenager after he allegedly assaulted and robbed a man in Sydney’s east last month.

About 8.40pm on Saturday 16 May 2020, a 24-year-old man was walking on Meeks Street, Kingsford, when he was allegedly approached by the 17-year-old boy and another unknown male.

Police will allege the teenager grabbed the man’s neck, punched him a number of times and stole cash and headphones from him.

The man suffered superficial facial injuries.

Eastern Beaches Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, the 17-year-old boy was arrested at Maroubra Police Station just after 6.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 9 June 2020).

He was charged with robbery in company and has been granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Monday 31 August 2020.
