Teenagers charged after pursuit in Cabramatta

Three teenagers have been charged after an alleged police pursuit in a stolen vehicle in Sydney’s south-west yesterday.

About 10am (Thursday 26 March 2020), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command noticed an allegedly stolen Toyota Rav4, driving on Cumberland Street, Cabramatta.

Police will allege in court that officers attempted to stop the vehicle and subsequently started a pursuit.

Shortly after the pursuit began, the vehicle crashed into a concrete island on Cumberland Highway.

The three boys, one 15-year-old and two 16-year-old’s, allegedly attempted to escape police on foot, but were arrested a short distance away.

They were taken to Fairfield Police Station where they were charged.

The younger boy was charged with police pursuit, drive conveyance, not stop when directed and negligent driving.

One of the 16-year-olds was charged with be carried in conveyance and possess prohibited drug (cannabis). The other was charged with be carried in conveyance.

They were refused bail to appear before Children’s Court today.
