Telstra bringing coverage to more communities in regional Australia

This week Minister for Regional Services, Senator Bridget McKenzie, in partnership with Telstra, announced 131 new mobile base stations in regional Australia as part of Round 4 of the Mobile Black Spot Program.

In Round Four of the Mobile Black Spot Program, Telstra will be contributing $23.3 million of the $55.6 million co-investment required for the new sites, alongside $18 million from the Commonwealth and $14.3 million from the Queensland, SA, Victorian and WA State Governments.

“For Australians living in rural, regional and remote communities, having access to reliable communications is vital,” National Farmers’ Federation President Fiona Simson said.

“The Mobile Black Spot Program has been instrumental in making real change to these communities, with more than 1,000 mobile base stations designated to be built, expanding mobile coverage across the regions.”
