Work is expected to begin on new amenities for North Park and the Goulburn Regional Hockey Facility in the second half of 2022, after Council awarded the contract for construction on Tuesday night.

At North Park the project will be focused on demolition of old facilities and the construction of a new pavilion which will include a canteen, meeting room, four change rooms, referee room, public toilets and storage and associated infrastructure.

A new amenities building will be built on the western side of the Hockey Complex, including four change rooms, referee rooms, a hockey shop and other areas. Scope

Mayor Peter Walker said that the joint tender for the two sporting facilities had yielded an improved result.

“Council alongside the hockey community and Junior Rugby League have worked hard to tap into grant funding, and then achieve an affordable outcome for these important projects. The facilities at North Park will be of great benefit to all users of those sporting fields, and our hockey complex will now be able to hold national standard tournaments.”

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said the new pavilion at North Park was the next priority project to continue the revitalisation of community amenities in Goulburn.

“We are investing heavily in local infrastructure projects to provide a vital boost for our community, local jobs and economic growth while delivering lasting upgrades that will benefit the residents of Goulburn for years to come,” Mr Taylor said.

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman welcomed Council’s decision.

“I am so pleased that the NSW Government could contribute over $4.8M to Goulburn Mulwaree Council ensuring that each of these priority projects will be delivered.

“Projects like the North Park Precinct and Goulburn’s Regional Hockey Facility build upon the NSW Government’s vision to help make regional NSW the best place to live, work and visit.”
