Students and staff at Glen Forest Primary School are set to benefit from new state-of-the-art facilities, with the tender released for construction of an $11.9 million kindergarten and pre-primary block.

The new facilities – which will accommodate 95 students – will replace ageing infrastructure and include four classrooms, kitchen and storage, staff and student toilets, an assisted access toilet, and an office.

The buildings are planned to fit within the school’s existing landscape, providing a natural environment for children in their early years of development.

Accessibility will also be improved on site, with provision for ramped access and an accessible toilet.

The facilities have been designed by Paterson Architects, with the building contract expected to be awarded in December.

These upgrades form part of the Cook Labor Government’s commitment to ensuring Western Australian families have access to high-quality public schools, close to where they live.

As stated by Education Minister Sabine Winton:

“Every child deserves to learn in welcoming and fit-for-purpose facilities, and this investment will ensure students have the environment they need to learn, play, and thrive.

“This project will provide a contemporary learning environment, designed to better support the youngest learners at Glen Forest Primary School.

“The Cook Labor Government is committed to giving students the best possible start to their education, and I look forward to seeing this project progress to construction.”

As stated by Klasey Hirst MLC:

“Glen Forest Primary School is an important part of the local community, and it’s fantastic to see these upgrades moving another step closer.

“These new facilities will give local children a modern place to learn in their earliest years at school.

“I know local families want to see their schools supported as their communities grow and change, and I am excited to see construction on this project progress.”
