Tenders called to improve facilities at Pirates Bay

Roger Jaensch,Minister for Environment and Parks

Recreational boating enthusiasts on the Tasman Peninsula will soon enjoy upgraded facilities at Pirates Bay, with tenders advertised today to undertake boat and trailer parking improvements at the popular fishing location.

The project will make it safer and easier for people to access the boat ramp and park their vehicles after launching their boats, and was part of the Government’s Taking Recreational Fishing and Boating to the next level commitment we took to the 2018 election.

Tasmania’s stunning natural locations are world-class, and we are committed to providing improved facilities across the state for locals and visitors alike to enjoy.

The works will improve the existing car and trailer parking and the connecting walkways, along with widening of the access road to the boat ramp.

Pirates Bay is a gateway to internationally recognised game fishing waters where large southern bluefin tuna, mako shark and swordfish can be caught and I have no doubt will be a popular recreational location for years to come.
