NT Government

The Territory is Australia’s comeback capital, and today the NT’s best export facilitators will be recognised on the national stage.

Seven businesses from around the Territory have progressed to the Australian Export and Investment Awards, which will be held virtually this afternoon.

The businesses and their respective categories are:

– SPEE3D – Advanced Technologies

– Monsoon Aquatics – Agribusiness, Food and Beverages

– Ausinet – E-commerce

– Alana Kaye College – International Education and Training

– Australian Blue Cypress – Manufacturing and Advanced Materials

– Australia Pacific Aircraft Storage – Regional Export

– PlantSensors – Sustainability

The awards recognise and honour Australian exporters who have achieved sustainable growth through innovation and commitment, which have made a significant contribution to the Australian economy.

In the year to September 2021, the value of the Territory’s exports was $10.7 billion dollars, with the majority of goods servicing Asian markets.

The Territory’s leading industries in exports are energy, minerals and agribusiness, however this year’s finalists recognise the innovative capabilities of the Territory in developing new industries.

The Territory Economic Reconstruction final report focuses on the Territory’s mining and agriculture sectors as key contributors to the Territory’s economic comeback.

Quotes from Chief Minister Michael Gunner:

“From high-speed metal printing that services defence members in the field, to shipping live marine life around the world – the Territory is home to some of the most innovative exporters in the world.

“We thank these businesses for the important contribution they make to our local economy, and to the nation. We know supporting them, and others breaking into this space will create more jobs for Territorians and expand industries and capabilities.

“We are Australia’s comeback capital, and we are focused on achieving a $40 billion economy by 2030.”

Quotes from Minister for Northern Australia and Trade Nicole Manison:

“We know the investment potential of the Territory and that our resources and agribusiness sector continue to deliver jobs and significantly boost the economy.

“I congratulate the finalists on their remarkable achievements and wish them all the very best luck. The Territory is proud to support you.”
