South Australian Tourism Commission

In just one month on Saturday 2 November, the biggest public parade in the Southern Hemisphere – the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant – will bring festive cheer to the streets of Adelaide.

Two new floats were unveiled today that are set to captivate audiences of all ages at this year’s event -Humpty Dumpty and the PS Murray Explorer.

Humpty Dumpty was a fan favourite from past years and is back by popular demand with a new design. The design, created by Dave Clarke, celebrates Humpy Dumpty’s rich history in the Pageant, adding a touch of nostalgia to the float lineup.

The second new float, the PS Murray Explorer, is a tribute to the iconic riverboats from the Murray River region. The grand float will feature a live band, playing festive tunes as it sails through the streets of Adelaide. As the second-largest float in the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant, after the Father Christmas float, the PS Murray Explorer is sure to be a showstopper.

Minister for Tourism, Zoe Bettison said the new floats symbolise the spirit of the event.

“We are thrilled to kick off the one-month countdown to South Australia’s most cherished event. The National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant has a special place in the hearts of South Australians, and this year’s new floats will undoubtedly add to the magic and excitement,” said Minister Bettison.

“As we prepare to come together on November 2, the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant will continue to bring our community closer, spreading Christmas cheer throughout the city.”

National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant Director, Brian Gilbertson shared his delight to reveal the twonew floats.

“We’re thrilled to welcome fan favourite Humpty Dumpty back to the Pageant line up after so many years. The PS Murray Explorer is a fitting tribute to our state’s heritage-its size and the live Pageant Jazz Band will make it a standout in this year’s parade,” said Mr Gilbertson.

“We are looking forward to see the smiles and excited faces that these new floats will bring when the 92nd National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant takes place in exactly one month.”

Chief Executive Officer of National Pharmacies, Vito Borrello highlighted the importance of the joy of the Christmas Pageant and the many health and wellbeing benefits that come from the community gathering together.

“As we approach Pageant Day, it’s important to remember what the event means to so many South Australians in so many different ways, “said Mr Borrello.

“The National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant is more than just a parade – it’s a celebration of community and togetherness and an event that the team at National Pharmacies is very proud to support.”
