Third person charged over public place shooting in Punchbowl

A third person has been charged following investigations into a public place shooting and assault in Sydney’s south-west last year.

Officers from Campsie Police Area Command were called to a park on Viola Street, Punchbowl, just after 3pm on Friday 29 November 2019, after reports shots had been fired.

Police will allege a 31-year-old man was shot at several times, before he was assaulted. He suffered serious injuries to his face and torso.

A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Strike Force Ample was established to investigate the incident.

Two men, aged 19 and 24, are currently before the court.

About 8.25am today (Thursday 16 July 2020), police attended a home at Viola Street, Punchbowl, and arrested a 30-year-old woman.

The woman was taken to Campsie Police Station, where she was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company – accessory before the fact and, conceal serious indictable offence.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 11 August 2020
