This Girl Can in Bass Coast

Local sporting clubs are invited to attend a free workshop, focussed on getting more women and girls active in sports, on Monday, 2 March.

The session will be run as part of the ‘This Girl Can Week’ program and will be presented by GippSport in partnership with Bass Coast Shire Council.

It will be held at the Old Post Office Meeting Room, corner McBride Avenue and Watt Street in Wonthaggi from 7.00pm to 8.30pm.

Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Brett Tessari, said the workshop will provide an opportunity for local sports club to find out how to get involved in This Girl Can Week and ongoing programming.

“The workshop will give local clubs plenty of information and will be delivered around the four key insights that have been developed to help encourage women and girls to participate in sport,” Cr Tessari said.

Following this workshop, Council in partnership with GippSport will be hosting a This Girl Can active breakfast on Monday, 23 March. This event will include a range of activities, guest speakers and a healthy breakfast to start the day. It will also include the launch of a week-long calendar of events for This Girl Can Week.

Stay tuned for more details on this event and the calendar, which will be released soon.

Bass Coast Council was successful in obtaining a This Girl Can Marketing Grant from VicHealth, which will help fund the workshops and activities planned as part of This Girl Can Week.
