Three in custody after shooting in Sunbury

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting and ramming which occurred in Sunbury this morning.

Three men are currently in custody and are assisting officers with their enquiries.

They are a 33-year-old of no fixed place of address, a 26-year-old and an 18-year-old both from Sunbury.

Officers were patrolling in the vicinity of Horne Street when shots were fired at their vehicle.

The members drove their car to a nearby fast food restaurant and sought cover inside.

A supervisor attended the scene to check on the safety of the civilians and members.

While the officers were in the restaurant further shots were fired at their car and it was then rammed by a silver sedan.

The sedan then sped off from the scene.

A number of units were called to the area to search for the vehicle and to safely escort the three employees and four members from the restaurant.

Police are not searching for anyone else in relation to the incident.
