Three men will face court today charged as part of ongoing investigations into the activities of alleged criminal networks operating on the South Coast and in south-west Sydney.
Earlier this month, detectives from South Coast Police District commenced an investigation following the alleged armed robbery of a man at Nowra, in which a Holden Commodore was stolen by two men armed with a crowbar and knuckle dusters.
Investigations revealed the vehicle had been taken to a property in Sydney’s south-west and assistance was requested from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, who commenced further inquiries.
Acting on information received, Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives, assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit, arrested two men – aged 42 and 32 – in the car park of a fast food restaurant at Casula about 10pm yesterday (Friday 14 August 2020).
Police will allege in court that the men were at the location for the supply of methylamphetamine.
Both men were taken to Liverpool Police Station.
Following further inquiries, a search warrant was executed at a rural property at Rossmore just before midnight.
During the search, investigators located the stolen Commodore, which was in the process of being stripped, and other items relevant to the investigation.
A 23-year-old man was also arrested at the property and taken to Liverpool Police Station.
The 42-year-old Rossmore man was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon, use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order, and two counts of supply a prohibited drug.
The 23-year-old Kiama man was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.
The 32-year-old Newtown man was charged with possess prohibited drug, and supply a prohibited drug (not commercial).
All three men have been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 15 August 2020).
Detectives from South Coast Police District are continuing investigations into other activity suspected to be related to the theft of the vehicle.
