Three teenagers charged after robbery in Sydney CBD

Three teenagers have been charged following a robbery in the Sydney CBD last week.

Around 7pm (Wednesday 12 July 2023), officers attached to the Sydney City Police Area Command were patrolling George Street, Sydney, when three males started running in various directions upon noticing police.

Two of the males were apprehended and searched, with police locating knives, knuckle dusters, drugs, and property linked to an alleged robbery that occurred moments prior.

Police were told a teenager threatened three boys with a knife before assaulting one of boys and stealing another’s jacket.

The two teens were arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station.

An 18-year-old was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon, common assault, and custody of knife in public place.

He was refused bail and appeared before Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 13 July 2023, where he was granted condition bail to appear before the same court on Thursday 7 September 2023.

A 16-year-old was charged with robbery in company, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail and appeared before a children’s court on Thursday 7 September 2023, where he was granted condition bail to appear before the same court on Wednesday 23 August 2023.

Following inquiries, another teenager – aged 15 – was arrested on Sussex Street, Sydney, around 4pm yesterday (Tuesday 18 July 2023).

He was taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with robbery in company and refused bail to appear before a children’s court today (Wednesday 19 July 2023).
