Three tiers for additional support for city events

A three-tiered support package of up to $765,000 is now available to help support city events as the city and North Adelaide seeks to bounce back from the impacts of the pandemic.

Funded by the City of Adelaide and administered by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA), the Events Recovery Fund will be an important lever to encourage people back into the city.

The purpose of the fund is to support the events industry as it continues to face challenges as a result of the long-term impacts of COVID-19.

It offers three categories of funding designed to assist in the staging of COVID-safe events that help drive visitation, spend and vibrancy for the city.

Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor strongly encouraged local organisations to apply.

“We want the events industry to know there are still many opportunities to apply for support from the City of Adelaide and AEDA,” said the Lord Mayor.

“Programs like Reignite Adelaide and State Government initiatives such as the Go To Town campaign and FOMO Fridays is all about encouraging people back to the city. The Events Recovery Fund is yet another way to help reignite the city and North Adelaide and we’re confident the program will have a positive impact.”

AEDA Chair Nikki Govan said the fund was designed to help existing events that needed that bit of extra support at this challenging time and hoped it would also encourage local organisations to consider bringing new events to the City of Adelaide.

“One of AEDA’s key roles is to help stimulate economic growth in the city and North Adelaide and this fund is designed to help do exactly that,” said Ms Govan.

“We’re strongly encouraging local organisations that are running existing events or looking to create great new events to visit the new website to see if they’re eligible for this support.”

The Events Recovery Fund is broken up into three categories, including:

  • Quick Response funding of up to $10,000 that is intended to support events with costs associated with disruption caused by the impacts of COVID-19
  • An Expansion of Existing Events category that will provide funding of up to $50,000 to help existing events expand, enhance or activate additional areas of the city.
  • A New Events
category to support new, exciting events in the city and North Adelaide by providing up to $200,000 in funding.

Applications are open until 30 April next year unless funds are exhausted prior.

Before commencing an application, we’re asking applicants to visit the website and read the Events Recovery Fund Guidelines and arrange for an AEDA Staff member to meet with you. Suitable requests will then be invited to complete an online application form.
