Delivered with local partners, the expo gave people the chance to get face-to-face help, learn more about trip planning, safety equipment, certification and what to do before heading out on the water.
Community members also had the opportunity to ask questions and connect directly with the organisations that support safe boating across the Torres Strait.
The expo was part of a week-long successful engagement for AMSA, which began with AMSA staff answering questions and providing help with certificates of competency, maritime courses, safety management system and vessel certification in a local hall.
The week ended with a radio interview which gave AMSA the opportunity to broadcast our safety messaging to a wider audience reaching the outer islands and southern coat of PNG.
