Traffic using brand new Huntingfield roundabout from Monday morning

Michael Ferguson, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport

The Rockliff Liberal Government is doing what matters for all Tasmanians and building safer and more efficient roads right around Tasmania.

Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Michael Ferguson, said he was very pleased to advise that road users will be able to use the new roundabout on the Channel Highway at Huntingfield from next week.

“Traffic will be moved onto the new roundabout from the morning of Monday, 5 February 2024 while work continues on the new slip lane that connects the Channel Highway with the Kingston Bypass,” Mr Ferguson said.

“Construction work on the new slip lane will continue between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm from Monday to Saturday until it is complete. A reduced speed limit will remain in place but there should be minimal delays for road users.

“Further updates will be provided before traffic moves on to the new slip lane.

“The Rockliff Liberal Government expects the project to be complete by late May 2024, weather permitting.

“Information about upcoming roadworks across the State can be found on the Roadworks Map: www.transport.tas.gov.au/roadworks

“Please keep to the posted speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs.

“We appreciate your patience as we progress through the final stages for the new roundabout and slip lane.”
