Trafficking charges after police seize methylamphetamine worth $4.7 million at Mudgeeraba, QLD

Police have charged two people with drug offences and seized 35 kilograms of methylamphetamine with a street value of over $4.7 million, following a vehicle intercept at Mudgeeraba last night.

Around 7.30pm, detectives from the Crime and Intelligence Command, Drug and Serious Crime Group intercepted a Toyota Rav 4 on the Pacific Motorway.

It will be alleged police located a two large sports bags containing 35 bags of methylamphetamine concealed in packages to look like imported tea.

In total approximately 35 kilograms of methylamphetamine was seized with an estimated street value of $4,725,000.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 41-year-old New South Wales woman, has been charged with trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property obtained from proceeds from trafficking in dangerous drugs and possess thing used.

She has been remanded in custody and is expected to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.

As a result of further investigations, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Eagleby where police located a large amount of cash and one kilogram of cannabis.

A 44-year-old Eagleby man has been charged with possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property obtained from proceeds, possession of things used and possess utensil. He was issued a notice to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on April 8.
