Trap Championships to attract top shooters

NT Government

Some of Australia’s top clay target shooters will be heading to the Territory to compete in the NT Trap Championships at the end of the month.

Limited to 210 shooters, around three quarters of competitors will travel from interstate to compete for a state sash and hall of fame points.

The annual event, which runs from 27-30 July 2023, began in 1984 and has a massive prize pool of over $200,000. The winner of last year’s double barrel shoot-off hit 414 targets in a row, to take out the event and set a new club record.

Members of clubs in Nhulunbuy, Katherine and Alice Springs will travel to take part and compete for a position to represent the NT in the Nationals.

The NT 4 Day Trap Championships is supported by the Northern Territory Government through Northern Territory Major Events Company, and hosted by the Darwin Clay Target Club and NT Clay Target Association at Marrara.

Competition begins at 8am each day. Spectators can attend for free.
