The Council is installing and trialling surveillance cameras in key public areas this month in a collaborative project with Victoria Police.
Mayor, Cr Scott Upston, said that the Council takes great pride in the safety of Benalla Rural City.
“CCTV cameras act as a deterrent for offenders, to improve community safety, security and confidence in public places,” said Cr Upston.
The technology being trialled has the capacity to be monitored remotely.
