Trio arrested after Templestowe evade

Two men and a woman have been arrested after a vehicle allegedly evaded police through the eastern suburbs last night (6 September).

Police were called to a suspicious vehicle in Toorak around 10.45pm. When police attempted to intercept the white Mercedes van, the driver took off.

Local units, assisted by the Dog Squad and Air Wing, tracked the vehicle through Toorak, Box Hill and Templestowe.

The three occupants ran from the car in Union Road Templestowe, but the air wing guided ground units to all three occupants’ hiding places.

Police will allege the van was stolen and bearing stolen number plates.

A 51-year-old Templestowe Lower man, a 26-year-old South Yarra woman and a 20-year-old Richmond man were all charged with theft of motor vehicle, theft from motor vehicle and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

All three were remanded in custody overnight and will face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today (7 September).
