BOM

Issued: 21 March 2022 at 2.30pm WST

Tropical Cyclone Charlotte has today formed off the north-west coast of Western Australia, approximately 840 kilometres north northwest of Exmouth.

The tropical cyclone is expected to move south-west and intensify before weakening over the ocean and potentially returning to a tropical low late on Wednesday or Thursday.

From Friday, the system is forecast to move to the south or south-east and potentially cross the coast on the weekend.

While there is significant uncertainty in the future location and intensity of the system, a period of wet and windy weather from late Friday and across the weekend is possible for parts of western WA.

The Bureau of Meteorology continues to monitor the system and engage with its emergency management partners.

Communities are encouraged to keep up to date with the latest forecasts and warnings on the Bureau’s website and BOM Weather app and to follow the advice of emergency services.
