Two arrested as search continues for stolen car with dog inside at Brighton

Detectives from Box Hill Divisional Response Unit arrested two men after a car was stolen with Moe the dog inside at Brighton this morning.

It is believed the men were driving a white BMW which is believed to be linked to the stolen Mercedes and were involved in a collision on Dorothea Mackellar Ave in Oakleigh East about 11.45am.

The pair ran from the scene and were arrested nearby on Macrina Street.

A 20-year-old man from The Basin and a 25-year-old Ashwood man are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

The Mercedes and Moe the dog is yet to be located.

Investigators have released an image of the Mercedes and Moe the dog stolen from Were Street in Brighton about 7.45am this morning.

The Mercedes is described a 2017 C250 Mercedes Station wagon with roof racks and registration VBG 946.

Moe the beloved cavoodle of a Brighton family, is aged two years-old and gold in colour.
