Two charged after woman allegedly kidnapped and body of man located in Wyong

A man and woman have been charged following an investigation into the alleged kidnapping of a woman and the discovery of a man’s body on the state’s Central Coast.

About 4.30pm yesterday (Saturday 28 January 2023), emergency services were called to Levitt Street, Wyong, following reports a woman had escaped a nearby unit after allegedly being kidnapped.

The 44-year-old woman told police she had allegedly been there since Thursday (26 January 2023).

She was treated at the scene before being taken to Gosford Hospital in a stable condition for treatment of multiple injuries including burns.

While speaking with detectives, the woman raised concerns for the welfare of a man who she believed was also at the unit.

Soon after, police located the body of a man inside. He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 50s.

A crime scene was established, which will be examined by specialist forensic police, and detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incidents.

Following inquiries, a 30-year-old man was arrested at the unit about 5.30pm and a 33-year-old woman was arrested at a home on Charmian Street, Watanobbi, about 10pm.

They were taken to Wyong Police Station, where the man was charged with murder and kidnap in company with intent serious indictable occasioning actual bodily harm.

The woman was charged with conceal serious indictable offence.

They were both refused bail to appear in Wyong Local Court tomorrow (Monday 30 January 2023).
