Two charged and vehicle recovered after Heidelberg after Heidelberg West hit-run

Investigators have charged a woman and a man as part of an investigation into a hit-run collision in Heidelberg West last weekend.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives were conducting a search warrant at a residence of Narvick Crescent in Heidelberg West about 7am this morning.

As officers approached the property, it is alleged a vehicle parked in the driveway drove at police, forcing them to jump out of the way.

Thankfully, no officers were injured.

The vehicle lost control, crashing into a wall before allegedly ramming an unmarked police vehicle

The stolen ute then subsequently crashed into a tree where the occupants, a 42-year-old man and 15-year-old girl, both from Heidelberg West, were arrested.

Detectives executed a search warrant at the Navrick Crescent property, arresting a 51-year-old Heidelberg West woman without incident.

The 51-year-old woman is charged with dangerous driving cause serious injury, theft of a motor vehicle, fail to stop, fail to render assistance and unlicenced driving.

She is remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

The 42-year-old man is charged with aggravated intentional expose emergency worker to risk, theft of a motor vehicle and driving offences.

He is remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The 15-year-old is expected to be charged via summons in relation to theft of a motor vehicle.

The arrests form part of the investigation into an alleged hit-run in Heidelberg West on Saturday 1 August.

Emergency services were called to Blackwood Parade following reports a man had been hit by a car about 7.30pm.

It alleged the 68-year-old man was struck by his vehicle, a black Honda CRV, as he attempted to prevent it being stolen from his property.

He was transported to hospital, where he remains with life-threatening injuries.

The Honda CRV was located later today on Tobruk Avenue in Heidelberg West.

The car has been seized for forensic testing.
