Two people have been arrested and charged following a firearms incident in Papakura last week.
Police were called to an address on Hill Crescent at about 6.30pm on 23 July following reports a firearm had been discharged.
Detective Inspector Shaun Vickers, Counties Manukau CIB, says two men were taken into custody in Manukau during the weekend.
“A 26-year-old man has been charged with discharging a firearm with reckless disregard, assaults Police, and breach of EM bail.
“A 32-year-old man has also been charged with being a party to discharging a firearm with reckless disregard, and unlawful possession of two firearms.”
Detective Inspector Vickers says both men are due to appear in Manukau District Court today.
“Thankfully no one was injured as a result of this reckless behaviour, and two firearms have also been recovered.”
He says Police would like to thank those members of the public who have assisted with enquiries to date, however, investigators are still seeking information.
“We would still like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information that could assist the investigation.”
