Two charged over alleged drug supply syndicate – Bankstown

Detectives have charged two men following an eight-month investigation into alleged drug supply in the Bankstown area.

In February 2023, detectives attached Bankstown Police Area Command established Strike Force Polar to investigate the supply and distribution of methylamphetamine and cocaine in the wider Bankstown area.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators – with assistance from specialist officers attached to Public Order and Riot Squad, North West Metro and South West Metro Operation Support Groups and Task Force Magnus – executed three search warrants at 7am yesterday (Thursday 19 October 2023) at homes in Punchbowl, Burwood, and Bankstown.

During the searches, police seized over $20,000 cash, electronic devices, methamphetamine, cocaine, and several vehicles. All items have been sent for forensic examination.

Police arrested two men – aged 24 and 27 – at the Burwood and Punchbowl properties respectively, where they were taken to Bankstown Police Station.

The younger man was charged with supply indictable and commercial quantities prohibited, possess prohibited drug, possess or attempt to prescribed restricted substance, and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime more than $5000.

The older man was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug.

They were both refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Friday 20 October 2023).
