Police are investigating a two-car crash following a pursuit in the Southern Highlands yesterday.
Just after 4pm (Saturday 13 June 2020), Traffic and Highway Patrol officers stopped a Holden station wagon after it was allegedly detected speeding on the Hume Highway, near Welby.
As police approached the vehicle to speak to the driver, he allegedly drove away.
A pursuit was initiated and continued southbound on the Hume Highway for a short time, before the driver allegedly attempted a U-turn towards northbound lanes and hit a police car.
The driver, a 30-year-old man, was trapped in the vehicle for a short time, before being released and taken under police guard to Liverpool Hospital with suspected chest and spinal injuries.
His passenger, a 40-year-old man, was taken to Bowral Hospital for observation.
The senior constable driving the police car sustained a hand injury and was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
The Crash Investigation Unit and officers from Southern Highlands Police Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
