Two men charged with 24 property crime related offences, Belmont and Carindale 

Detectives have charged two men following investigations into property crime offences in Belmont and Carindale on 24 September.

It is alleged around 3.30am, a group broke into a Highland Cresent residence in Belmont and stole a Toyota Camry, a BYD Seal and a number of personal items before fleeing the scene in the stolen vehicles.

The group allegedly also attempted to break into a second Highland Cresent home but were unable to gain entry.

Around 4.15am, investigations suggest the group allegedly broke into a Holborn Cresent address in Carindale where they were disturbed by the occupant.

A man allegedly hit the occupant’s hand with a baseball bat before the group fled the scene in a stolen BYD Seal without stealing any items from the address.

The victim, a 20-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment.

Following investigations by Criminal Investigation Branches from Cleveland and Upper Mount Gravatt, two men have been arrested and charged in relation to the alleged offences.

A 19-year-old Kingston man was charged with two counts each of face masked with intent to commit indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle (UUMV), enter dwelling with intent by break at night in company and attempted enter dwelling with intent at night in company, and one count each of robbery armed in company, robbery armed in company used personal violence, threats and attempted enter dwelling by break at night in company.

His police bail was refused, and he first appeared before Richlands Magistrates Court on 29 September where he was remanded in custody to reappear on 20 November.

A 19-year-old Park Ridge man was charged with three counts of attempted enter dwelling with intent at night in company, two counts each of face masked with intent to commit indictable offence, UUMV and robbery armed in company used personal violence, and one count each of enter dwelling with intent by break at night threatens violence whilst armed in company, threats and enter dwelling with intent by break at night in company.

His police bail was refused, and he first appeared before Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 28 September where he was remanded in custody to appear before Holland Park Magistrates Court today, 2 October.

Investigations remain ongoing.

With a strong focus on crime prevention, police will be highly visible as they prevent, disrupt and investigate offending, with particular emphasis on unlawful use, robbery and unlawful entry.

The operation will be locally led and centrally coordinated, leveraging the knowledge and experience of officers who know their communities best.
