Two men charged with alleged firearm offences after revolver found – Strike Force Cobra

Robbery and Serious Crime Squad have charged two men with alleged firearm offences under Strike Force Cobra.

Just after 2pm yesterday (Tuesday 10 October 2023), strike force detectives – with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit – arrested two men during a vehicle stop at the intersection of Macquarie Street and St James Road in Sydney’s CBD.

The men, aged 23 and 22, were checked at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before they were taken to Surry Hills Police Station.

During a search of their vehicle, police located a loaded revolver, which was seized to undergo further forensic examination.

A short time later, strike force detectives executed a search warrant at an address in Edmondson Park, where they located and seized a small amount of illicit substances.

The older man was charged with acquire pistol – subject to firearms prohibition order and breach of bail. An outstanding warrant for drug offences was also executed.

The younger man was charged with possess unauthorised pistol.

Both men were refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court today (Wednesday 11 October 2023).

The investigation continues.
