The Northern Territory has recorded two new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases from the NT outbreak to 37. These include:
- A 33-year-old female from Katherine who is a household contact of a student from MacFarlane Primary School. She was infectious in the community for two days on 14 and 15 November, is fully vaccinated and is now in quarantine at the Centre for National Resilience (CNR)
- A 67-year-old male from Katherine tested positive this morning – case details are being confirmed and contact tracing is underway.
- A 42-year-old male who tested positive to COVID-19 last week was admitted to Royal Darwin Hospital overnight. He is in a stable condition.
Extensive contact tracing remains underway, with 423 close contacts identified to date for cluster two. Of these, 420 close contacts have been contacted and are isolating while 361 have returned a negative test. Close contacts will continue to be tested for COVID-19 regularly throughout their 14-day quarantine period.
Lockdown extended for Katherine for 48 hours
The lockdown for the Municipality of Katherine (including Tindal) will extend for a further 48 hours, until 6pm, Wednesday 24 November. The extended lockdown in Katherine is due to pending COVID-9 test results and persistent positive wastewater results.
Lockout for Robinson River
Robinson River, including surrounding homelands, will transition from a lockdown to a lockout, effective immediately, until Wednesday, 1 December.
Under a lockout, fully vaccinated residents are able to live normally within the lockout area. Everyone must wear a mask outside of their place of residence. Travel is not permitted outside of the lockout area.
Unvaccinated residents, including those people who have received only their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, must stay at home during a lockout period and are only permitted to leave for the following five reasons:
- Medical treatment, including COVID testing or vaccination
- For essential goods and services, like groceries and medications
- Essential work
- For one hour of outdoor exercise a day within 5 km from your home with one other person or people from your house
- To provide care and support to a family member or person who cannot support themselves.
The Binjari and Rockhole communities remain in a hard lockdown. A mask mandate remains in place for the Roper Gulf and Victoria-Daly Local Government Areas (LGAs) until 6pm on Saturday 4 December.
More than 2,500 COVID-19 tests were processed across the NT yesterday.
The Katherine East Side Clinic is located in the Youth Outreach Building in the Eastside Shop Complex and is open today from 8.30am – 6pm.
The Katherine Hospital Pandemic Clinic (Drive-Through Testing Site) is open daily from 9am to 6pm.
The Katherine walk-in COVID-19 testing clinic is open daily from 8:30am – 6:00pm.
COVID-19 testing sites are also open in Greater Darwin, Alice Springs, Tennant Creek and Nhulunbuy. Testing is also available at NT Health clinics in remote communities.
