Two teens charged after alleged stabbing and brawl – Wollongong

Two teenagers have been charged following an alleged stabbing and brawl in Wollongong last week.

About 10pm on Thursday 31 October 2024, emergency services were called to a park on Burelli Street, Wollongong, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attached to Wollongong Police District attended and were told a group of people were allegedly involved in a brawl, before a teenage boy, aged 16, was stabbed multiple times.

The boy was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A crime scene was established which was examined by specialist officers and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident commenced.

About 2.45pm the following day (Friday 1 November 2024), a 16-year-old boy was arrested in Dapto and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear before a Childrens Court on Saturday 2 November where he was again refused to appear before a Childrens Court on Tuesday 12 November 2024.

Following investigations, a 17-year-old boy attended Wollongong Police Station on today (Wednesday 6 November 2024) and was arrested and charged with affray.

He was refused bail to appear before a Childrens Court today (Wednesday 6 November 2024).
