Two-vehicle fatal crash at Narrabri

A man has died, and a woman was seriously injured following a two-vehicle crash near Narrabri yesterday.

About 1.30pm (Monday 13 February 2023), emergency services were called to the Newell Highway, about 16kms south of Narrabri, following reports of a crash between a truck and car.

On arrival, officers attached to Oxley Police District located the body of a man, believed to be the driver of the car, at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 50s.

A passenger in the vehicle – a 44-year-old woman – sustained serious injuries and was trapped, before she was cut from the vehicle by emergency services and airlifted to Tamworth Base Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the truck – a 68-year-old man – was not injured and taken to Narrabri Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic police, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash commenced.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
